1 kings 3:5-14
"Ask. what shall I give you."
Before King Solomon asked what he wanted, he recognized;
1. the responsibility ahead of him
2. the people he was to lead were God's
3. what he needed to lead them
4. the predecessor walked before God in truth, in righteousness and in uprightness.
5. God was with these people,
6. he was inadequate but expressed the desire to be like his father,
7. his leadership was part of the inheritance
These elements in his prayer pleased God and He not only gave him an understanding heart but also riches and honor.
Matthew 7:7
God has given as the liberty to ask because He is more than willing to give us. However, when we ask, do we please God in the contents and intents of our hearts.
